About HideShark
Every animal, explained beautifully. A calm, carefully sourced guide to the animal kingdom — one species at a time.
What we’re building
HideShark aims to have a genuinely useful page for every animal a curious person might search for — from the great white shark to the least-known beetle. Each guide follows the same structure so you always know where to look: a quick-facts panel, then diet, habitat, behaviour, life cycle, threats, and conservation status.
How guides are researched
Every guide is drafted by a writer, not spun out automatically, and each one leans on public, citable sources:
- Conservation status comes from the IUCN Red List.
- Physical and behavioural facts are checked against museum and university databases such as the Animal Diversity Web and primary research papers.
- Ranges and populations are cross-referenced between at least two independent sources.
Every guide lists its sources at the bottom, along with the date it was published and last updated.
Corrections
Science moves, and we make mistakes. If something looks wrong, email hello@hideshark.com with the animal and the detail, and we’ll review it against the sources.
Accessibility & performance
Pages are static HTML with minimal JavaScript. Animation is deliberately gentle and switches off entirely when your device asks for reduced motion. Text meets WCAG AA contrast in both light and dark themes.
